Hi all,

We are exploring solutions journalism's transformative power in addressing challenges for children and families at Issue Media Group.

A few of our current series dive deep into crucial areas affecting our youngest generations and their families: the pivotal role of universal Pre-K; the critical importance of mental health support tailored for children and adolescents; and the impactful strategies for supporting individuals with disabilities or autism. These topics are more than just issues — they represent opportunities for our communities to grow more inclusive, supportive, and empowering.

By highlighting innovative approaches and programs that address these areas, we aim to inform and inspire action and engagement. From groundbreaking educational initiatives such as access to Pre-K and inclusive family programs such as mental health and programs for those with disabilities or autism, our stories spotlight the difference-makers dedicated to enhancing young people's and their families' lives.

Thanks for your attention and partnership,
Brian and Paul

Universal Pre-K

IMG's Early Education Matters is a series of stories about the implementation of Pre-K for All throughout Michigan. This series is made possible with funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. By partnering with the Kellogg foundation on this project, we are striving to increase awareness and engagement between stakeholders, residents and policymakers regarding the challenges and impacts of implementing Universal Pre-K policies in Michigan as well as highlighting the existing and emerging solutions to these challenges, especially at the local level.

Voices of Youth

For the past three years, our Voices of Youth series has helped amplify the voices of young residents.  The series began as an effort to capture the youth perspective and narrative during the COVID-19 response to recovery.  Since then, the series has evolved and expanded to include the voices of youth in other IMG communities.

Autism Alliance of Michigan

Issue Media Group recently partnered with the Autism Alliance of Michigan to produce a series of articles to help promote health and wellness for the autism community.  The Autism Alliance of Michigan expands opportunities for people living with autism and their families, including parents of children who often find themselves in uncharted territory when it comes to getting their kids’ educational and health care needs met.
