Brian Boyle, co-Chief Executive Officer 

Prior to founding Issue Media Group, Brian directed e-Business Solutions for Infinity Broadcasting (Viacom), where he created “small” media within a radio giant. The e-Business Solutions team managed the sales, marketing, and creation of 11 online publications targeting niche audiences for technology, automotive, human resources, alternative energy, small business and real estate. In consecutive years, Infinity recognized Brian as a Newcomer of the Year and New Business Leader of the Year for its seven Detroit stations.

Prior to joining Viacom, Brian was Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Development for Drillbit, a publishing consultant specializing in niche online content models. The Drillbit approach and content management solution were instrumental in assisting national “alternative weekly” publications to leverage online content to grow new audiences and revenues. Drillbit created the award-winning Metro Times site. Brian received his Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University.

Paul Schutt, co-Chief Executive Officer

Paul Schutt is the co-founder of Issue Media Group. He brings a background in technology, business development and strategy to IMG from his work with the other companies he has co-founded and led over the past 19 years.

Mr Schutt also co-founded the Cleveland-based technology firm, Easy2 Technologies that was sold to Answers.com in 2013. Easy2 provides rich retail solutions to the worlds largest retailers and manufacturers in home improvement, consumer electronics, juvenile products, sporting goods, and housewares including Lowes, Wal-Mart, Amazon, Target and others.

Paul serves on private and public boards including the board of trustees of the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, 826 National, Michigan Saves. Paul received his BA from Ferris State University and lives in Ann Arbor with his son.

Oksana Panarina, Controller

Oksana Panarina brings twenty years of experience in finance and accounting to her role as Issue Media Group’s financial controller, where she leads day-to-day financial operations as well as the company’s long-term financial strategy and reporting. Prior to joining IMG, Oksana was a Senior Accountant with All Media Guide in Ann Arbor, publishers of allmusic.com, and for five years owned and managed a sales and marketing firm based in Tecumseh, Michigan. She is a graduate of St. Petersburg International Institute of Management (IMISP) in St. Petersburg, Russia, and holds a Masters degree in Accountancy from the University of Phoenix.


Christian Marcillo, Client Services Director

As Client Services Director, Christian leads Issue Media Group’s client relationships by managing project deliverables and client relationships to produce series that align client goals with the readership audience of our publications. Christian’s background in leading community projects, engagement, and ecosystem development both within Issue Media Group and in his professional career in the community of Pontiac and in the mobile space help him intersect technology along with solution approaches that are felt in the community.


Erica Schopmeyer, Business Development Director

As Business Development Director, Erica supports the sales department in driving new business in various markets and sustaining client relationships. In 2010, Erica received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Michigan State University’s School of Journalism, and went on to complete a Master of Arts from Wayne State University’s Employment and Labor Relations program in 2013. Prior to her employment at IMG, Erica worked in Human Resources for the Detroit Zoological Society, as well as the international architecture and design firm, Coop Himmeblau, in Vienna, Austria.


Dorothy Hernandez, Editorial Director

As Editorial Director, Dorothy supports IMG’s local managing editors and project editors. Her responsibilities include setting and enforcing editorial vision and standards, overseeing editorial quality and launching new editorial programs. Hernandez joins Issue Media Group after working in marketing and communications at Gleaners Community Food Bank and recently wrapped up a food journalism fellowship with Feet in Two Worlds and WDET. A veteran journalist with several years of experience writing and editing for a variety of print and digital outlets, including most recently as copy editor for SEEN magazine, Hernandez will bring both breadth and depth to the role.

Aside from SEEN, Hernandez has worked for The Detroit News, the City of Detroit, as the managing editor of Hour Detroit magazine and in freelance communications for several different outlets. She holds numerous journalism awards from SPJ-Detroit and the American Copy Editors Society.


Courtney Soule, Business Development Manager

As Business Development Manager, Courtney provides new business development and client management support to the leadership team. Courtney joined Issue Media Group as Business Development Manager in 2019, supporting the sales department in driving new business in various markets and supporting ongoing client relationships. Courtney has also worked as the Managing Editor of one of IMG’s publications Catalyst Midland since 2017. Prior to her role at IMG, Courtney worked for Dow Chemical for 15 years in public affairs, government affairs and public policy and corporate strategic development. She holds a B.B.A. in marketing and business management from Northwood University.


Veronica Johnson, Project Manager, On the Ground

As Project Manager, Veronica serves as a support system for On the Ground, which is a program that helps increase the communications capacity of organizations and non-profits in a particular neighborhood. Her responsibilities include creating analytics reports, impact reports, developing and overseeing budgets for the program, helping plan events for the neighborhood speaker series, and working with editorial staff of various brands to ensure program is running smoothly. Veronica received her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2011 and received her Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Wayne State University in May 2017. Prior to working at IMG, Veronica was an Online Project Manager at BNP Media, a B2B publishing company based in Troy.
